The best way to find out what happened at Tuesday's game...

...is to actually attend. But for those of us who had babies—or who ARE babies always whining for a recap—here's the scoop: Colle Mcvoy took, like, 12 runs in the second inning and none of the Weaselhawks lucky charms, voodoo hexes or sideline parents could do a thing about it.

Final score: 5 to 117.

Winning is great, but ...

Hey, nice wrap-up, Katy, thanks for contributing. Who's gonna write up next week? Bring your steno pads and pencils to the game, the general public demands fresh content.

Important detail about the 8 pt. prod. game (aside from, who the hell are they?): Where was the post-game gathering? Did the new recruits join in?

Drinking (or at least hanging out after the game -- we always need designated drivers) is just as important as fielding skills in this league.

Tie goes to the runner...

And the tie goes to the runne... er, well, it goes to the Weaselhawks! Not only did we end up with a tie game (9-9), but we were leading up to the end and shut them down for 4 straight innings.

Good showing of Weaselhawks with 2 new recruits (Chris & Micheal) playing and a number of upcoming hawks (season 2025) practicing their swings (Rey's already got his own bat, which is better than most of the hawks).

Votes for game ball go to:
-Jessica for being the big hitter of the girls and for the awesome line drive catch at 3rd.
-Jake Nassif for proving he can hold down the #2 batting spot.
-Witt for a good home run and a kick ass double play... although his crazy base running and high jump skills almost led to our demise. Next time we can just tell the other team that Witt has turrettes and his base running is always entertaining (which is half true).

She can't dance, but she sure can sing

Kind of a weak outing for after-game beverages from the Weaselhawks following the triumphant opener. Five total -- c'mon, we can do better than that. (We did out-number the other team, though).

Although she didn't play (bum knee), and came to the game with a dead battery in her camera, official Weaselhawks photographer Katy Gerdes totally came through at the karaoke mic, contributing a killer version of Jackson that would make A Nassif jealous.

May 13; Weaselhawks v Fischer Edit

A fine debut for the 2008 Weaselhawk squad, in spirit if not in numbers. We were a little short on players, but we managed with the help of our new coach, Natalia Schaefer. Yes, that's Natalie "Sure, I'll coach as long as you promise I'll never have to play" Schaefer. She played. And she shone brightly. For that she has earned the game ball. Also much props to the other Weaselhawk newbie, April. Another damn fine debut.

While we needed Natalie to get to the required minimum of players, we were still better off than Fischer Edit. They didn't have enough, so we technically won by forfeit. But don't let that technically fool you. We swooped ass, 13-0. In your face, editors of Fisch!

The other game ball goes to Craig Phillips for throwing more strikouts than I've seen since the end of the steroid era of softball. Mainly he gets the award for his sliding effort and Three Stoogian baserunning.

>>thanks for the wrap, JP. But I'm calling my own play of the game for K.Lamm with the unassisted double play at third. KAH^2! -Jake
